Another one from William-Adolphe Bouguereau (I still can't memorize his name yet): Charity; it portraits a woman protecting 5 young children, providing them nurturing (bared breast), sustenance (overturned jug with gold and silver gold) and knowledge (pile of books).

This piece holds the world record for a Bouguereau painting, it was sold in 2000 for $3,600,000 US dollars.

The most well-known painting of William-Adolphe Bouguereau: the Birth of Venus; it doesn't depicts the actual birth of Venus (from the sea) but her transportation in a shell (a metaphor of the vulva), to Paphos, Cyprus.

Stands at 9'10" (3 m) high, and 7'2" (2.2 m) wide, an immense work of art.

"We see the goddess of love and beauty, Venus, standing nude in the center of the image, on her platform made of seashell. A swarm of observers, including tritons, sea nymphs, and putti, who are admiring the beauty of the goddess, are shown surrounding her. Seems ironic though, that I'm posting that painting right now (happy times) when it pictures an old, blind, haggard man; with an extremely tired position of playing.

Also, I found something extraordinary: with x-ray examinations, curators found THREE figures peering behind the body of the musician, like this one:

The curators discovered that there is at least two different paintings beneath The Old Guitarist.

Just one recommendation for today: there's a film called AKIRA, made in Japan in the 80's by Katsuhiro Otomo, it was one of the first animated films to introduce the concept of "cyberpunk"; I'm not a big fan of that but this film is just amazing.

And that's not the recommendation; the film itself has a great soundtrack. In addition to that, there's a "Symphonic Suite" composed by Geinoh Yamashirogumi, which is even better, here's a taste:

I just ended my translation into Spanish of Joanna Newsom's Monkey and Bear. This was in order to fully understand it, there are some parts (even for native-English speakers) that are a bit confusing.

Here you can find the lyrics, it's like reading a short story, not a song.

As with most of the music, you have to be in the mood for this, I think the mood is "calm, relaxed, trippy, tragic"

From the ashes of Hellhammer, one of the most prominent bands in the metal scene emerged, Celtic Frost shocked the world with their originality. They didn't had just riffs, they also constructed quasi-classical melodies filled with a dark sentiment.

One more extraordinary song from this peculiar band. Once again, the lyrics are made up and give you a rare sensation; it's hard to tell where it comes from, it has elements from different cultures and the result is something unique.

The first 5 minutes of the song are the same structures over and over again, but then, something happens... the "crazy-happy" feeling of the song is transformed into "crazy-evil".

The only thing I don't like (in any song) is the fade out, but that's just me.

Now, following some classic black metal albums, we have the almighty Emperor, with their second (but it feeels like their first) album. Named it wrongly "Symphonic Black Metal", this masterpiece rise from basic song structures to vast landscapes. More classical music than black metal.

With their following album they tried to do the same (with some members of Emperor in jail/deported) but in a more weak way.

You can find some pretty good albums here, but it's not an exhaustive compilation.

One can start with the monumental first album of Morbid Angel, one of the pillars of death metal, you must have this album, no matter what your taste is. Also, their next masterpiece is equally recommended.

Now, from the founders of death metal, you can switch to one band responsible for giving black metal worldwide recognition. Burzum, with his debut album shocked the black metal community (in that time, they were like 20 people). But, you can find curious the fact that his 2nd and 3rd albums were created at the same time

He estado absorto por el mundo del rock desde hace un tiempo, me ha llevado a sentir una nueva gama de sensaciones; y particularme he sentido que Mars Volta me ha cambiado por completo el panorama musical.

Omar Rodriguez-López es un gran artista; sabe cómo llevarte de viaje a lugares inhóspitos que sólo una mente trastornada como la de él pudo haber concebido.

He llevado el viaje musical de manera congruente, la mayoría de gente se olvida de su pasado, en especial la que escucha el metal, creen que por escuchar un género "mejor", ya no deben de escuchar esa música de "chavos", que deben seguir adelante, dar el siguiente paso. Yo, sin embargo, he comprendido (¡ego!) toda la música que escucho; aún mejor, cada vez que conozco y me sumerjo en nueva música, vuelvo al death y al black metal con una nueva perspectiva, y es delicioso escucharlos de esa manera.

Incluso he estado escuchando hip hop, me suele "llenar" por un tiempo, pero siempre regreso al grandioso metal, nunca encontraré un amor con el que tengo tantas cosas en común.

Desearía que alguien que supiera mucho de Jazz me llevar a comprender las bases de éste, siempre he tenido inmensos deseos de saber todo sobre el Jazz, pero he tratado de recorrer el camino yo solo y mi viaje ha sido infructifero.

Por cierto, es curioso cómo es que conocí a Radio Ibero. Neto, yo y unos de sus amigos festejabamos su cumpleaños, y decidimos meternos ácido y unas tachas. Luego, unos de los amigos de Neto tuvo ganas de conducir y fuimos a dar un paseo por la ciudad a las 3-5 am, y al ir recostado en la parte trasera de una camioneta, viendo la Luna y las estrellas estar ahí, como haciendo nada en el cielo, escuchaba una tras otra canciones que me gustanban demasiado; hoy corroboré que no era mi estado psicodélico, sino que en realidad pasan buena música.

Vaya... es difícil comenzar.

Es difícil porque sé que nadie lo leerá, o tal vez tendré alguna visita que cayó en este blog por error, tal vez alguien de Budapest, o de Bangkok o de Beirut (nótese referencia a Shakira).

Tal vez alguien lea esto cuando esté tirado muerto por no dormir por varios días, tratando de arreglar mi reloj interno.

Probablemente hoy dormiré a las 6 pm o algo así, después de un maratón de 40 horas despierto. Sé que no te puede hacer mal el estar despierto tantas horas, pero me parece (aunque no siento) que hacerlo varias veces seguidas con intervalos de sueño de 12-14 hrs. puede resultar muy dañino.

Estoy escuchando Radio Ibero, tienen un muy buen DJ es las madrugadas, pone música que no cabría en otro de sus horarios.

Burzum y Triptykon (ex-Celtic Frost) acaban de sacar un nuevo disco; el primero me dejó con una buena impresión, mientras que el segundo me pareció, lamentablemente, un refrito de Monotheist.

Mi Marsvoltamanía ha disminuido un poco, es buena señal, no quiero gastarlos.

Estoy decepcionado en este momento... esperaba que Carmen Aristegui me deleitara con su agudeza informativa y con su buen humor (a veces emerge de formas tan extrañas, que te causa una risa duradera); sin embargo está uno de esos comentaristas (comentarista no es para nada lo mismo que periodista) insípidos, y en particular éste (no recuerdo su nombre) me causa desagrado, suelo despreciar pocas cosas, pero su forma tan estúpida de llevar la información es ridícula: todo es grandioso, todos los políticos apestan, todos los músicos con más de 20 años son leyenda; asco.

Nota mental: no dejar que el amor se acerque a mi, sino yo debo acercarme a él.

Pff, qué forma tan más cursi de terminar mi "entrada", llevada de manera tan confusa. Siempre he pensado que me explico de forma rara, espero que sea una forma de escribir y no una deficiencia de ella.
